Opened Our Own Greenhouse for Growing Plants
At the end of 2021, we spent months preparing to open our own Riverbend Rock & Mulch Greenhouse! Our plants were purchased as seeds, tiny tiny seeds. We have plugged, nurtured, sang to, read to and loved these seeds. You can find the expert helpers in our latest commercial below! The results are breathtaking!! Our babies are all grown up and ready to come and live with you! With the last freeze of the year behind us, they are safe to get outside and into some fresh Top Soil. Greenhouse Plants For Purchase
When you are ready to grow a plant of any variety, you need to choose how to purchase any plant. It’s always better to start with a well rooted plant versus a pack of seeds. They tend to be sturdier and easier to nurture. Think you have the opposite of a green thumb? Don’t worry, so do I! Try out our Kansas City Nursery’s Salvia’s, they are drought tolerant so you can literally forget to feed them! Or you can go with a Hosta, they like water but don’t want sun and they will grow rapidly so you will look like the expert!

Looking for something in the shade? Check out our Palace Purple Coral Bells! Wanting to spice up your life, check out our Trident or Ghost peppers! Hoping to add some fresh flavor into your meals? Our Kansas City Greenhouse carries fresh herbs like Cilantro, Thyme and Basil. Seriously, when you stop by just smell the Basil while getting a glimpse of the tomato varieties we have—Caprese Salad here we come! And even better these are locally grown right here in Kansas City! But that isn’t all there is out in Riverbend’s Greenhouse! Flowers, Tall Grasses, Cabbage, Boxwoods, Squash, Eggplants, Marigolds, a Yard Ornament Turtle we have named Sven…. SO MUCH GREEN!
Looking for a way to spice up the green you already have, check out our Soil Add-ins:
- Mushroom Stuff: This will help stimulate the root growth (Roots are always important both physically and metaphorically)
- Fish Emulsion: Great fertilizer for all plants (Just be glad you don’t have to DIY this stuff!)
- Neem Oil: A natural insect repellant (Because no one likes to share with bugs- no one.)
- Perlite: An add-in to aerate compost (think little white Styrofoam balls mixed in with top soil)

Now that we have gotten what we want, time to put it in our top soil where we want! Once you have completed this, water your selections accordingly for the first week to help them settle into their new digs. Last thing before you go…. What about adding one final touch of flair?
