When you buy a yard of rock or mulch, you expect a full yard, right? Unfortunately, that’s not always what you’re getting — especially from some of our competitors.
Here’s the problem: many landscape supply companies sell by heaped bucket capacity, which means the bucket is filled above the rim to make it look like a full yard. But depending on the material — like pea gravel or 1-inch rock — that heap can’t even hold its shape. And when it’s dumped, the volume drops significantly.

We measure using struck capacity — that’s a level bucket, measured flat across the top, the standard method for truly accurate volume. Our team loads materials in half-yard increments to ensure consistent and precise delivery. When we say you’re getting 6 yards, you are really getting 6 yards.
In fact, one of our customers recently did a side-by-side test and found that material from a competitor — supposedly 1 yard — only measured out to about 3/4 yard. That’s 20–25% less product for the same price.
